Action against bus operators who mistreat passengers

February 25, 2012   12:19 pm

The National Transport Commission (NTC) stated that it will take action in the future against bus operators who mistreat commuters after an incident in a bus involving a schoolchild.

NTC Chairman, Roshan Gunawardena stated that this move is aimed at providing a high quality of service to passengers as a handful of bus operators were bringing disrepute to the service through their behavior.

He said that yesterday (February 24) a schoolchild in the Mawanella area was pulled out of a bus for not having money for a bus ticket while authorities have suspended the operation of the bus in question.

Further inquiries are being conducted into the incident.
