Shortage of syringes at the Anuradhapura teaching hospital

There is a shortage of syringes at the Anuradhapura teaching hospital, the Nurses Union stated. Syringes from outside have been brought to the hospital to administer any injections to warded and external patients.

 

Patients claim that after standing in queues for hours at the hospital, they are instructed to buy syringes from outside the hospital and bring them back for the administering of any injections.

 

Speaking to Ada Derana, the Director of the hospital, Dr. W.M.T.B. Wijekoon stated that although orders for syringes had been made, stocks had yet to be delivered.
