Case filed against Duminda Silva over Bharatha Lakshman murder

Charge sheets were filed against 13 suspects including MP Duminda Silva over the murders of four persons including former Parliamentarian and Presidential Adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.

Charge sheets were filed against 13 of the 22 suspects in the case, before Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis, Ada Derana reporter said.

SP Shani Abeysekera had stated that cases will be filed under article 146, 300 and 196 in the Code Of Criminal Procedure Act, he said.

Attorney Upul Kumarapperuma, who appeared for the family of late politician, commended the officers of the CID for their efforts to ensure justice regarding the case amidst various difficulties.

The Magistrate declared that the case can no longer be taken up before him as cases have now been filed against the suspects, and instructed the CID to take steps to take it up at court No. 06.
