Wele Suda’s accomplice nabbed as police bust major drug racket

Police Narcotics Bureau officers arrested 6 suspects engaged in a large scale heroin distribution racket and confiscated over one kilogram of heroin.

Four suspects were arrested in the Rukmalgama area while the rest were nabbed in Thittapattara, Dompe, police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena said. Approximately 1 kilogram and 25 grams of heroin was found in their possession.

Police said a criminal by the name of ‘Podi Chana’ is among the arrested suspects and that he is believed to be an accomplice of notorious drug dealer and well-known underworld figure, Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’.

He had been wanted in connection to 5 robberies and two murders.

The Police Narcotics Bureau has commenced investigations into the suspects.
