A suspect arrested in connection with the abduction of a man from Chilaw and forcing him to sign a blank promissory note, was remanded until 23 by the Chilaw District Court.

The suspect, Jayamal Tissera, from Yakkala, Gampaha was arrested by Chilaw Police.

Derrick Chaminda, from Chilaw, had filed a complaint claiming he was abducted on April 03, detained and forced to sign a blank promissory note before being dropped off near the Ridiwella Grounds in Chilaw.

Chaminda had informed Chilaw Police that his abductors included a father-son duo from Chilaw and a person who was dressed in clothes similar to the police uniform, and had also provided police with the license plate number of the vehicle they had used.

Acting on this information, the Chialw Police on April 06 arrested a businessman from Yakkala along with a car allegedly used for the crime.

Upon interrogation he had claimed that the Gampaha Division Traffic OIC was also involved in the abduction.
