The National Freedom Front (NFF) today accused the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress of attempting join forces with the Tamil National Alliance to create a separate rule in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
NFF spokesman Mohamed Muzamil claimed that the SLMC and TNA are holding discussions with the clear intention of forming an alliance and taking over power in the Easter Province from the UPFA.
The SLMC has still not been able to establish the public’s support and power required for this purpose, he told reporter in Colombo today.
That is the reason why they are against changes to the 13th Amendment and attempting to garner public support, Muzamil said.
He alleged that if the TNA wins the Northern Provincial Council election, scheduled to be held in September, it will join forces with the SLMC to take control of the Eastern Province and amalgamate both provinces to establish the North-East Provincial Council.
Muzamil further said that TNA MPs are boasting that the day they take power in Eastern Province is not far away to the assurance given to them by the Muslim Congress.
