Two Navy officers killed in accident

Two Sri Lanka Navy officers reportedly killed following a vehicle accident at Karuwalagaswewa in Puttlam early this morning, the Navy Spokesman told Ada Derana.


The incident occurred at around 2.50 a.m. while the two victims were Commander Priyantha and Lieutenant Commander Kalutanthri.


Their vehicle which was traveling towards Colombo collided with a container traveling from Colombo to Jaffna.


The designated driver of the Navy vehicle had not been driving during the time of accident and therefore escaped unharmed while one of the victims of the crash had been driving at the time.


The Karuwagalasweva police are conducting further inquiries.
