One lane closed from Kotte to Borella Cemetery

Police said that only one lane will be open for traffic from Gateway College at Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte turn off to Borella Cemetery from 4-5pm due to the funeral of veteran educationist R.I.T. Alles today.

Therefore vehicles traveling from Battaramulla towards the Borella Cemetery will be restricted to one lane from the turn to Gateway College.

Further vehicles arriving from Rajagiriya or Battaramulla will not be allowed to turn towards Nawala during the funeral procession. They are advised to use alternate routes, police said.

The funeral of Alles, who passed away on Thursday evening, will take place at the Borella Cemetery today (December 2).
 
His remains will lie in state at D.S. Senanayake College premises from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and will be then taken to Gateway International College and will lie in state there from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
 
Religious observances are to be held at the Gateway International College premises at 2.30 p.m. and cortege will leave the College complex for the Borella Cemetery at 4:30 p.m.
