The protest fast launched by UNP Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma and several others, demanding the immediate reopening of the Baduraliya Hospital, entered its second day today.

The Kalutara District MP Palitha Thewarapperuma and two members of the Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha yesterday (25) launched the protest fast in front of the Baduraliya Hospital, which has been closed for the past 5 days.

Thewarapperuma claims that police officers last night attacked him and those engaging in a protest at the location.

He assured that they will not end the fast, no matter what obstacles come their way, until the hospital is reopened.

When inquired regarding the accusation made, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated that steps were taken to remove those who were illegally obstructing traffic on the road.
