SLMC to contest Matara, Galle alone

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), a constituent party of the ruling UPFA, has decided to contest alone in Galle and Matara district under the ‘Tree’ symbol at the upcoming Southern Provincial Council election.  

National Organizer of the SLMC, Shafeek Rajabdeen stated that the decision was made by the party’s executive board which recently convened.

However, he added, that the party has still not decided on contesting in the Hambantota District.

The SLMC has also decided to contest the Western Provincial Council polls separately.
