PS member arrested over attempt to remove lightning rod

A member of the Uva Paranagama Pradeshiya Sabha who attempted to remove a lightning conductor fixed at a tea factory in Downside Estate has been arrested by police.

The UNP Pradeshiya Sabha member had entered the tea factory with a group of supporters last night and had attempted to remove the lightning conductor, which was fixed onto the roof of the factory.

Security guards at the factory had alerted police regarding the incident and the PS member was arrested.

He is to be produced at the Welimada Magistrate’s Court today (19).
