Two arrested at BIA with 15 gold nuggets hidden in rectums

Two airline passenger who attempted to smuggle 15 pieces of gold nuggets, weighing over one kilogram, into the country by concealing them in their rectums, have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, this morning.
The suspects, 42 and 49-year-old residents of Colombo 12 were arrested by officials attached to the Revenue Task Force (RTF), upon arriving in the country on a SriLankan Airlines flight from Singapore.
Approximate value of seized gold is over 7.5 million rupees, according to Sri Lanka Customs Spokesperson, Leslie Gamini.
This nature of thin gold bars concealed in the rectum considered as the most dangerous method for smuggling, he added.
