Jaffna DIG transferred

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Jaffna, Rohan Dias, has been transferred to serve as the DIG in charge Ratnapura and Kegalle, the police spokesman said.

Meanwhile it has been reported that DIG Ravi Vidyalankara of Police Headquarters has been appointed as the new DIG in charge of Jaffna.

However, under existing election laws recruitments, transfers and promotions of government servants including police officers are prohibited during the election period.

When inquired regarding this, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the transfer was made with the consent of the Commissioner of Elections.
