Train derails near Galle railway station; services halted

April 17, 2016   03:45 pm

Train services have been halted between Galle and Matara due to a train derailing near the Galle Railway Station, the Department of Railways said.

A train traveling from Colombo to Matara had derailed along the track between Galle and Kotugoda while this had disrupted services along the line.

Buses will be used to transport the commuters who were onboard the train which had derailed while steps are currently being taken to resolve the derailment, the department said.

However, this will have no affect on train services between Galle and Colombo.
