The Buddhism will be given due consideration despite whatever interpretations that some people believe, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka says.

The observation was made during an event held in Colombo this morning (21).

He also went on to say that the Prime Minister and the President have also given vows to protect Buddhism. Karunathilaka pointed out that the monks should also work hard to protect and strengthen the culture of the country.

Earlier, Bishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith also stressed that the right status and respect deserved for Buddhism should remain intact in the constitution.
