Unidentified body found near Nissanka Latha Mandapaya

The body of an unidentified person has been discovered near the Nissanka Latha Mandapaya in Polonnaruwa.

The discovery was made based on information received by police while the deceased is said to be a male who is around 50-years-old.

The body has been left at the location it was discovered as the magistrate’s inquiry and postmortem examination are to be carried out today (12).

Polonnaruwa Police is conducting an investigation into the death. 

Meanwhile in a separate incident, a 45-year-old man has been found murdered at a rubber estate in Pottagala, Veyangoda. 

The victim, a resident of Udammita in Veyangoda, has been attacked with a sharp object causing his death. 

Veyangoda Police is conducting investigations to arrest suspects over the murder.
