Gunman open fire at Police during vehicle search in Kurunegala

A Sub Inspector was killed and two other officers injured after they were shot at by a gunman from inside a vehicle they were searching near Kurunegala town, Police said today.


The incident occurred last night (15) at around 10.00pm, an official said. The police investigation is underway to identify the involved suspect.


The two injured officers have been admitted to the Kurunegala hospital for treatments. The remains of the deceased are deposited at the same hospital pending an autopsy.
