Increase in bus fares up to 6.5 per cent may come to effect from July, Deputy Transport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe predicted.

The Deputy Minister made the observation while speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo on Sunday.

Abeysinghe added this may happen following the annual bus fare revision which has been decided to be granted by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

He also went on to say a final decision regarding the fare hike has not yet been reached.
