Man accused of rape and murder sentenced to 50 years in prison

The Badulla High Court sentenced an individual to 50 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping and murdering an underage girl.

The 8-year-old girl was sexually abused and murdered on August 13, 2013, in Ellagama of Diyathalawa.

According to the Police, the defendant, 43, who was sentenced to prison today (12) after an extensive court case is also a resident of the same area.
