Domestic airports to be restored under public-private partnerships

Domestic airports within the country including the dometic airport at Sigiriya will be reconstructed to enable domestic flights within Sri Lanka Minister Mangala Samarweera said.
In his parliamentary address today (9), Minister Samarweera stated that domestic airports will be reconstructed to better service the tourism industry.
He also stated that railway stations such as Nanu-oya, Galle and Ella will be declared as archeological sites to protect the cultural significance of their locations.
It was further mentioned that the Tourism Development Authority will establish 25 lifeguarding stations and 20 tourism policing units to promote safety and security of all travelers.
A VAT refund scheme for foreign passport holders will also be introduced from May 01, 2018.
