Second Reading of 2018 Budget passed in Parliament

The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2018 was passed in Parliament, a short while ago. 

The Budget was passed with a with a majority of 93 votes with 151 voting in favour and 58 voting against.  

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera presented the Budget proposals for the financial year 2018 last Thursday (9).
 
The proposals were debated for six days since then on daily basis except on Sunday from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm.
 
The Committee Stage debate on the Budget proposals would commence tomorrow (17) and it is scheduled to continue until December 9.
