President to strictly enforce law against anyone involved in bribery and corruption

President Maithripala Sirisena emphasized that as a government, strong decisions will be taken to control and irradiates bribery and corruption in government sector and other areas.

Law and order will take place irrespective of status, the President said.

The President stated this addressing International Family Healthcare Day Ceremony held at Royal College, Polonnaruwa, today (05).

Further expressing his thoughts, the President mentioned that any politicians or public servants should not act in a way to be subject to hatred of the people.

And, to build a better society, the government sector should always be bribery free, the President said.

President Sirisena stated how he acted without any favours to control bribery, waste, misuse of public property and corruption during the past 3years.

As the Presidential Commission on the Central Bank had fulfill its responsibilities in a proper manner, the Presidential Commission appointed to inquire into the fraud and corruption in SriLankan Airlines will also reveal much important information to the country in near future, the President said.

The President also expressed his satisfaction over the fact that our health service which is worldwide acknowledged is a bribe-free service and emphasized that the government is committed to further strengthening the free health service in the country.

A new uniform for Midwives was also introduced at the event.

The President also presented mementos to the Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and the President of the Midwives Association Devika Kodithuwakku, in recognition of their great service for the health service.

Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne presented a special felicitation memento to the President for his great commitment to the development of the health service.

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne and North Central Province Governor Mr. M.P Jayasinghe and other invitees were present at the event.
