A father in Walgama-Matara has killed his son last night (25), by electrocuting him, stated Matara Police.

The incident has taken place between 9.30 pm and 10 pm last night, stated the police.

Police suspects that the father, who lives separately from the wife and children, has committed this murder over a family conflict.

The deceased son had visited the father at his house last night and had left following a disagreement with the father.

He had later returned to the father’s house and died when he had come in contact with a live wire placed by the father.

Reportedly, the father had positioned live wires to cover the perimeter of his house.

The deceased is an unmarried 30 year old named Mathiyage Udara Madusanka.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the father had previously served prison time for stabbing his eldest son to death, 08 years ago. He had been released from jail on 10th October in 2017.

Matara Police have managed to arrest the suspected father when he had fled the area.

Following the Magistrate’s investigation, the body has been kept in the mortuary of Matara hospital for the post mortem.

Further investigations on the incident are conducted by the Matara Police.
