UPFA MPs guarantee their support to new PM

A meeting, presided by the President Maithripala Sirisena, was held with the participation of the new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and all parliamentarians representing UPFA.
The meeting was held last evening (27) at the Presidential Secretariat.
According to the President’s Media Division the discussion has focused as to how the future activities of the government should be implemented.
During the discussion, PM Mahinda Amaraweera has proposed that support of all the UPFA parliamentarians should support the new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, while PM Duminda Dissanayake seconded it.
Subsequently, all the parliamentarians have reportedly unanimously supported the proposal.
The press release by the Prime Minister’s Division stated that MP Ananda Aluthgamage, who represented the UNP, Aurumugan Thondaman of Ceylon Workers’ Congress Douglas Devananda of Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) and many party leaders have participated at the discussion.
