Very heavy falls above 200 mm will occur at some places in Nuwara-Eliya, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts, stated the Met Department.

Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times over the island.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity during thundershowers.

The following rainfalls were recorded from 08.30 am yesterday (May 18) to 08.30 am this morning (May 19).
