Landslide early warnings extended; ‘Red’ alert for part of Kandy

The National Building and Research Organisation (NBRO), on Tuesday (Jan.02) issued early landslide warnings for several localities in 5 districts, to be in effect until 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.
Accordingly, a Level 03 (Red) alert was issued for Ududumbara Divisional Secretariat Division in Kandy District.
Level 02 (Amber) warning was issued for the following areas:
• Badulla District – Lunugala and Passara Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSD) and surrounding areas
• Monaragala District – Medagama DSD and surrounding areas
Meanwhile, Level 01 (Yellow) alerts are in place in the following areas:
• Badulla District – Badulla, Ella, Saranathota, Meegahakiwula, Kandeketiya and Hali-Ela DSDs and surrounding areas
• Galle District – Nagoda DSD and surrounding areas
• Kandy District – Pasbage Korale and Pathahewaheta DSDs and surrounding areas
• Matara District – Pitabeddara DSD and surrounding areas
• Nuwara-Eliya District – Walapane and Hanguranketha DSDs and surrounding areas
