An Automated Facial Recognition System has been installed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake to identify persons potentially involved in criminal activities.

The relevant measure was taken under the guidance of Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, in a bid to identify any departing or arriving persons who may be involved in any illegal activities.
