Woman arrested after attempting to smuggle heroin into Kalutara Prison

A 34-year-old female was arrested by the Kalutara (North) Police on Wednesday (28 Feb.), after attempting to smuggle heroin into the Kalutara Prison.

Police reported that the female suspect, identified as a resident of Mulatiyana, Payagala, had attempted to smuggle 550mg of heroin into the Kalutara Prison, where her husband is currently imprisoned.

The drugs were reportedly hidden in the bones of a parcel of chicken she had brought for her husband, under the guise of providing him meals, police stated, adding that she had arrived to the Prison with the couple’s 06-year-old daughter.
