Search operation launched after local fishing vessel reported missing

Kalpitiya Police has received a complaint about a trawler that had set sail from Kalpitiya for fishing activities on Wednesday (March 06) and remains missing ever since.

This complaint has been made by the owner of the fishing vessel, saying that they have not return to the island.

As per reports there have been three Sri Lankan fishermen aboard the vessel in question. They were identified as residents of the Ichchankaduwa area, aged 21, 37 and 38 years.

Police said that a search operation was initiated after informing the Sri Lanka Navy base in Kalpitiya.
