‘Govt’s decision to grant land rights to citizens is globally unprecedented’ - President

President Ranil Wickremesinghe hailed the government’s decision to grant freehold land deeds to Mahaweli settlers as unprecedented globally in granting land rights to its citizens.

Wickremesinghe made this remark while addressing the inauguration of the “Urumaya” programme granting freehold land deeds to Mahaweli settlers at Polonnaruwa Royal Central College, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
