UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera was questioned by the CID for over three and a half hours this morning by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over an alleged incident of printing defamatory posters.

While leaving the CID premises in Colombo, Mangala Samaraweera told the media that a simple issue of being questioned by the CID for such a long period over a simple political poster proves that this country is heading towards a dictatorship.

“I don’t blame the CID in any way. They treated me well. They gave me Ginger Beer and welithalapa. Likewise for three and a half hours they questioned me as to who gave the order for posters to be printed, who printed them and why etcetera,” said Mr. Samaraweera.

He added that the message they tried to convey through the poster, the possibility of an emerging dictatorial rule has been proved true by this action.
