A’pura hospital sexual assault case suspect further remanded

The suspect arrested in connection with the Anuradhapura hospital sexual assault case has been ordered to be remanded further until March 24, 2025.

This order was issued after he was produced before Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today (17).

Meanwhile, although the suspect was scheduled to be presented for an identification parade today, the procedure has been cancelled as the victimized doctor did not participate for the identification parade.

Additionally, the main suspect’s sister and another individual who were arrested over the charges of aiding the suspect to hide after the crime have been released on two surety bails of Rs. 200,000 each.

The accused, a former army soldier named Nilantha Manduranga Ratnayake, who is a resident of Galnewa New Town, was arrested in a joint operation conducted by the police and the Special Task Force (STF) in the Nidikumbhayaya area of Galnewa.
