Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for ‘extraordinary and historic role’ in Iran-Israel ceasefire deal

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his “extraordinary and historic role” in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

According to a report of Fox News, U.S. House Representative Buddy Carter has nominated him. In a letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, Carter credited Trump with bringing an end to the so-called “12-Day War” and helping avert a broader regional conflict.

“President Trump’s leadership helped end the armed conflict between Israel and Iran and prevented the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet,” Carter wrote, referencing Iran’s suspected pursuit of nuclear weapons.

The ceasefire agreement, which Trump announced late Monday, was set to take effect overnight. It followed a dramatic escalation that began with an Israeli preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, prompting days of rocket exchanges. The U.S. later joined the fray with airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites, and Iran retaliated with rocket attacks on a U.S. airbase in Qatar—though advance notice was reportedly given, and no casualties were reported.

Carter praised Trump’s decisive actions during the crisis, stating that his influence “was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible.” He added that Trump’s efforts “exemplify the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony.”
This is not the first time Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Earlier this year, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) also submitted a nomination, citing the global impact of Trump’s 2024 election win.

According to the official Nobel website, there are currently 338 candidates for the 2025 Peace Prize.

As per Fox News, Carter has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has previously introduced symbolic legislation in his favor, including a proposal to rename Greenland “Red, White, and Blueland.”

Notably, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has earlier also sent a letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Norway, recommending the US President for the award for his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.
