One person injured in shooting in Seeduwa

An individual has been injured following a shooting incident in the Rajapakshapura area in Seeduwa this evening (21), police said.

The shooting reportedly occurred at around 8.15 p.m. on the 12th Lane in the Rajapakshapura area.

According to the police, two unidentified gunmen arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire, and subsequently fled the scene.

It is further reported that the shooting had targeted the father of a local councillor representing the National People’s Power (NPP) in the Seeduwa Urban Council.

Police suspect that the shooting was carried out using a revolver-type firearm.

The victim is said to be a retired army personnel, and the motive behind the shooting has not yet been revealed.

The 55-year-old injured individual has reportedly been admitted to the Ragama Hospital for further treatment.

The Seeduwa Divisional Crime Detective Bureau and Seeduwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
