US-based aerospace giant SpaceX has appointed SINGER Sri Lanka as the authorized retailer for Starlink, marking a major step toward transforming internet access in Sri Lanka. The move aims to bridge the digital divide, particularly in areas traditionally underserved by conventional connectivity solutions.

Starlink, developed by SpaceX, is a satellite internet system that provides fast, reliable, and unlimited internet access through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites. This system bypasses the need for ground-based infrastructure, offering seamless internet coverage even in remote locations.

The launch of Starlink in Sri Lanka is set to revolutionize connectivity across the island, particularly benefiting rural and hard-to-reach areas that have long struggled with limited internet access. This technological advancement promises to drive economic growth, improve educational opportunities, and promote digital inclusion.

Mahesh Wijewardene, Group Managing Director of SINGER Sri Lanka PLC, expressed his excitement, saying, “Our partnership with Starlink marks a pivotal moment as the first company in Sri Lanka to be officially approved by SpaceX. We are proud to provide access to one of the world’s most advanced satellite internet systems, bringing reliable, borderless internet to Sri Lankans, especially along the northern and southern coasts.”

Through this collaboration, SINGER Sri Lanka further solidifies its position as the country’s leading enabler of technological innovation. The company will make Starlink devices available for purchase and activation through its extensive network of retail outlets and online platforms. The service promises to meet the needs of diverse users, from home users and remote workers to businesses, schools, and emergency services.

Mohan Pandithage, Chairman of SINGER Sri Lanka, added, “This partnership with SpaceX is a significant milestone for both Singer and Sri Lanka. We are proud to contribute to the country’s digital transformation by bringing Starlink’s cutting-edge technology to our consumers.”

As part of the Hayleys Group, SINGER remains committed to supporting national digitalization efforts with forward-thinking solutions.

Starlink users can now activate their service independently through the Starlink mobile app. Each package includes a Starlink dish, Wi-Fi router, cables, and a power adapter. Pricing for the devices starts from LKR 69,000, with options available for residential, mobile, and business applications.
