President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says special attention will be given in the upcoming Budget to modernising the public service and strengthening local government institutions.

President Dissanayake made this assertion while attending the Monaragala District Special Coordination Committee meeting held at the Monaragala District Secretariat.

During the meeting, the President reviewed the progress of projects being implemented in the district for the year 2025, the President’s Media Division stated.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also emphasized that rural development projects must be accelerated to ensure that Treasury funds effectively reach the villages.

The President noted that in order to prevent delays in these projects, officials should have a targeted plan in place up to the completion date.

Special attention was also given to the issues faced by the farming community in the district.

The President also instructed officials to adopt a systematic approach to resolve these problems, the PMD added.
