Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm expected in several areas today

Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and Northwestern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today (18), the Department of Meteorology said.

Fairly heavy falls of about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Met. Department added.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
