Landslide warnings issued for several areas in five districts

Early landslide warnings have been issued for multiple areas in five districts as heavy rainfall continues in parts of the island.

Landslide warnings have been in effect from 10:00 p.m. yesterday (25) and will remain in effect until 10:00 p.m. today (26), the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) said.

Accordingly, a Level 2 (Amber)) warning has been issued for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) and surrounding areas in the Kalutara and Matara districts as follows:

Kalutara: Walallawita Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.

Matara: Welipitiya Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, a Level 1 (Yellow) warning has been issued for several areas in the following districts:

Galle: Nagoda, Elpitiya, Baddegama, Yakkalamulla Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.

Kalutara: Palindanuwara, Mathugama Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.

Matara: Kotapola Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.

Ratnapura: Elapatha, Kalawana, Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariat DSD and surrounding areas.
