Amal Silva, a former member of the Western Provincial Council, has been arrested by the Walana Anti-Vice Squad, along with three luxury vehicles worth approximately Rs. 60 million, which had been allegedly registered using forged documents, police stated.

He was arrested today (28) during a raid carried out based on intelligence received by the Walana Anti-Vice Squad.

According to reports, the vehicles had been illegally imported into the country and registered with the Department of Motor Traffic under fraudulent registration numbers using forged documentation.

Among the vehicles seized were three SUVs, including a Land Rover and Mitsubishi Jeep.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the registration numbers used belonged to government-owned vehicles, and fake documents were generated to facilitate the illegal registration of these luxury vehicles.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (29).
