Wild elephant killed after collision with freight train between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola

A wild elephant was killed after being hit by a freight train traveling between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola at around 8:45 p.m. yesterday (27).

According to the Department of Railways, the incident disrupted train operations along the Northern railway line.

The wild elephant died on the spot as a result of the collision, the Department stated.
