All train services suspended due to bad weather

The Railway Department has announced that train services on all routes have been suspended after 6:00 a.m. today (28), owing to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

This announcement was issued by the Additional General Manager (Operations) of Sri Lanka Railways, Chandrasena Bandara.

Accordingly, the Department stated that trains will operate only for individuals reporting for essential services.

Until the current disaster situation subsides, train operations will be limited to the Western Province. 

Additionally, a limited number of trains will operate from Galle and Chilaw to Colombo Fort to facilitate the transport of staff engaged in essential services, Railways General Manager Ravindra Padmapriya said.
