Academic activities in universities and higher education institutes suspended until Dec. 8

Academic activities at universities, higher education institutes and vocational training institutions have been suspended until December 8, 2025 due to the disaster situation in the country.

The decision is applicable to all institutions that are under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewe said in a statement.

Meanwhile, schools will reopen for the final phase of the third school term also on December 16.

Schools were initially scheduled to reopen on December 08. However, the reopening of schools was postponed in light of the prevailing disaster situation in the country.

Accordingly, schools will reopen for the final phase of the third school term on December 16.

Meanwhile, the conduct of the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been postponed until further notice.
