Three dead, several injured in car–van collision in Mundalama

At least three people have been killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a car and a van in Navadankulama, Mundalama, along the Puttalam–Colombo main road, police said.

According to police, a car traveling from Chilaw towards Puttalam collided head-on with a van coming from the opposite direction. 

The deceased include two women and one man who were traveling in the car at the time of the incident.

The driver and two female passengers of the car sustained injuries in the accident and later succumbed at Mundalama Hospital. 

The deceased, aged 26, 58, and 84, were residents of the Kurana and Ja-Ela areas. Their bodies have been placed at the Mundalama Hospital morgue.

Four other individuals—including another passenger in the car, the driver of the van, and two passengers in the van—were admitted to Mundalama Hospital and subsequently transferred to Puttalam Hospital for further treatment. 

Mundalama Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
