Several spells of showers are expected in the Northern, North-central, Uva, Eastern and Central provinces today (13), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers have been predicted at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 pm.

Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places, the Met Department added.

Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts during the early hours of the morning.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
