The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (22) that indictments have been filed in the Colombo High Court against former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and his brother, Dhammika Ranatunga.

The indictments are related to allegedly causing a loss amounting to nearly Rs. 800 million by changing the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s (CPC) procedure for awarding long-term oil procurement contracts and making spot purchases at a higher cost during Arjuna’s tenure as the subject minister and Dhammika as CPC chairman.

The Bribery Commission officials informed the court of this when the case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (22).
