Special traffic plan near Premadasa stadium from noon

A special security program and traffic plan will be implemented by Sri Lanka Police in view of the Sri Lanka–Zimbabwe T20 World Cup encounter to be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo this afternoon (19).
The Group B game is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
Speaking at a special media briefing held in Colombo, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic Control and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera provided details regarding the traffic arrangements.
He stated that since the stadium gates will be opened at noon, there will be no issues if spectators arrive at that time.
DIG Senadheera stated;
“We especially request spectators to come from noon onwards, as we expect to open the gates at that time. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. The gates will open at noon. If you arrive at that time, it will prevent congestion and also make it easier for us to carry out our duties.
“For the Sri Lanka–Zimbabwe match as well, the same special security program and traffic plan that were implemented during the India–Pakistan match will be in effect.
“There are certain roads where vehicle parking will not be permitted. From noon onwards, we will not allow vehicles to be parked on those roads.”
Roads subject to restrictions at noon as follows;
- Sangaraja Mawatha and Sumanadisi Mawatha
- Vincent Perera Mawatha
- Britto Babapulle Place, Temple Road, Khettarama Road
- Sebastian Canal Road
- 100-foot Road
- Sri Bodhiraja Mawatha
- Maligawatte Lane and Jumma Masjid Road
- Pradeepa Mawatha and Saddharma Mawatha
DIG Senadheera further stated that vehicular movement will also be restricted on the roads leading to the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium where the match will be held.
Meanwhile, police said that six designated parking areas have been assigned:
Stadium car park – capacity 165 vehicles – for VIP and VVIP pass holders and media
Sathosa grounds and Railway yard – capacity 500 light vehicles (three-wheelers, vans, motorcycles, cars)
Sebastian Canal Road:
From the first bridge to the second bridge – 80 vehicles
Applewatte – 150 vehicles
Kovil Road – 200 vehicles
Both sides of Adi Seya Road – 150 vehicles
Additionally, he mentioned that spectators may seek assistance from police officers regarding any issues, or alternatively call 0112-433 333 for support.
