Fairly heavy rainfall expected in several provinces

The Department of meteorology says that atmospheric conditions will be favorable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.

Fairly heavy rainfall above 75 mm are likely at some places in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-central and Eastern provinces.

Showers may occur in Eastern province and in Hambantota district in the morning too, it said.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-central provinces and in Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts during the early hours of the morning.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
