12-hour water cut in Homagama today

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced that water supply in the Homagama area will be suspended today from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., lasting a total of 12 hours.

The decision to interrupt water supply comes amid prevailing dry weather conditions. While an initial plan had called for a 24-hour suspension, the NWSDB later reduced the period first to 18 hours and then to 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the National Water Supply Board stated that a special program is being implemented to provide water using bowsers in the event of further disruptions to the water supply in the Colombo district.

Accordingly, steps have already been taken to deploy bowsers from other districts under the NWSDB to Colombo, Chairman of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Eng. Chandana Bandara said.

He further stated that the current disruptions have affected approximately 20,000 water connections.
