Cardinal Ranjith urges to pray for world peace in Easter message

April 5, 2026   10:03 am

Speaking during the main Easter Mass, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith emphasized that world peace has been shattered, and all of humanity is suffering due to one individual’s desire to dominate the whole world.

Addressing the congregation, Cardinal Ranjith stressed that Christianity is not merely about performing rituals or reading passages from the Holy Bible.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith further stated:

‘‘Let us pray, especially at this time, for world peace. Peace has been broken because of the selfishness of a single person, a person driven by the desire to control the world, causing immense suffering to humanity. We must pray for a change in the hearts of such individuals, guiding them away from these difficult and destructive paths.’‘

‘‘Christianity is not simply about offering prayers, reading sacred scriptures of the Holy Bible, or having pastors publicly proclaim messages. Christianity is about love, living with purpose, and being a servant of love. It means being accountable before God, showing compassion to our neighbors, and there’s a saying that leaders should serving their people. But today, those in power in our world are not servants, they are rulers, driven by the pursuit of power,’‘ he added.
