Netflix cancels docuseries with Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson after fight

A three-part Netflix docuseries featuring former One Direction members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson has reportedly been shelved.
The documentary was set to follow a U.S. road trip reunion, exploring their past as bandmates, grief after Liam Payne’s 2024 death, and their personal lives, including fatherhood.
However, an alleged altercation between Malik and Tomlinson has thrown a spanner in the works.
Louis Tomlinson reportedly suffered a concussion after allegedly being hit in the face by Zayn Malik.
The incident allegedly happened during the filming of the documentary in Wyoming last year. A heated argument took place on set when Zayn allegedly made a derogatory comment about Louis’ late mother, who died of leukemia in 2016.
As Louis decided to move away in shock, Zayn is said to have punched him in the face, which supposedly injured him and left him with a concussion.
“Louis was stunned and in shock. As he went to move, Zayn then attacked him. Zayn punched him straight in the face. Because he was wearing rings, it cut Louis’ head,” sources told The Sun.
“He was pulled away, and Louis was taken for medical treatment. He was left with a concussion. This happened outside in front of so many people. It was shocking,” it added.
The incident purportedly happened six months ago, and it is believed that the pair has not been in contact ever since. As per media reports, the moment was captured on camera by the film crew.
“If it became public, it could be beyond damaging for Zayn’s image,” an insider stated.
The director of the documentary, Nicola Marsh, shared the front page of The Sun, carrying the report of the scuffle, on Instagram, and wrote, “And there goes the last year of work.”
As per media reports, Louis unfollowed Zayn on Instagram, potentially undoing their recent reconciliation. What was supposed to be a healing, cathartic resolution of their differences after they left the iconic band turned out to be a PR nightmare. It should be noted that Netflix has not officially confirmed the project’s status at this time.
One Direction broke up in 2016 due to extreme burnout from a relentless schedule, a desire to pursue independent careers, and simmering internal tensions. In the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2023, Zayn claimed that they were “sick of each other” and that a lot of “politics” contributed to his decision to leave the band.
